“Life does not only happen in exotic places, it happens wherever you are. Be present.” – Nicholas Pinto from INSPIRATION - Leica Akademie

I see the world in black and white, the shadows, the textures, the simplicity. I carry a camera wherever I go. My photos are just moments of everyday life. I enjoy the conversations with people who ask what type of camera I’m using or, “why use a camera at all” given the fact almost everyone uses a smart phone today.

Until April, 2022 I shot only film but my brother gave me a Monochrom M body and now many of my photographs are digital. A friend described the Monochrom body as a “film camera with 450 exposures”. He was right! There are some differences, I do enjoy the grain from a negative shot at a higher ISO which is just not the same on digital.

I spend my time in downtown Indianapolis and the East End of Long Island where I’m inspired to capture the people and everyday life.  I’m also inspired by other photographers including Dan Tamarkin, owner of Tamarkin Camera in Chicago, and the many professionals at Roberts Camera in downtown Indianapolis.  Both offer hands on guidance and events focused on building a community of emerging photographers and sponsoring events and photo walks to get people out to take pictures.
